, they have to start talking about what's really important to the american people. jobs. mitt romney's talking about birth control. rick santorum is talking about socialism. and newt gingrich is talking about himself. but the fact is, most americans are desperate for another conversation. 51% say the economy and jobs matter most to them. no other issue gets more than 5%. getting jobs for the people is what voters want to talk about. those are the policies people want to hear debated. not side issues. republicans may be sidetracked, but president obama is not. >> this is not just another political debate. this is the defining issue of our times. this is a make-or-break moment for middle class families that everybody who's trying to get into the middle class. we can fight for an economy that's built to last, and that's what we've been talking about for the last three years. the values that always made this country great. hard work and fair play, and shared responsibility. everybody. >> getting people back to work through hard work and fair play. that's what matters. look at this. in the past 30

polls have mitt romney, rick santorum and newt gingrich running neck in neck. both states, the stakes are high. romney is trying to convince republicans he can seal the deal while santorum and gingrich are both fighting to become the conservative alternative. willard's already moved on to the next round of voting. he is about to take the stage in liberty, missouri, for his only public speech of the night. he is gearing up for his sourry's caucuses, which start tomorrow. santorum has moved on to louisiana, where republicans won't be voting for another two weeks. gingrich is the only one spending eelection night with the folks who voted today. it is change that romney and santorum took off so fast. they couldn't get enough time with these folks over the past few days. >> morning i can't. >> i got kin here in mississippi. >> i heard they got the best grits, looking forward to having some. >> i like grits, i like cheese grits, like grits with gravy, a number of ways you can have grits. got started right this morning with a biscuit and some cheesy grit, i tell ya. >> grits? that's one thin

, that there is going to be an avalanche of negative ads as we've seen willard romney do against his republican opponents? >> well, of course there will be. that goes without saying what will happen later in the cycle. i think what you see happening right now is really a smart move in politics and that is to take advantage of a situation whenever you can. as your clips were illustrating there, romney and the others were beating up on the president when it appeared that things weren't getting better. unfortunately, for romney, that became the campaign message and he now has to sort of retool this thing right now and just as it was hard earlier for president obama to say things would have been worse if we hadn't done what i said, now romney's in a position of saying, well, things would be better if the president weren't there. but it's a very hard argument to make. i think you need to be feeling bad for willard and praying for him, reverend. >> yes, lee definitely do that. and i'm serious, melissa, let me say this. when he says it's difficult for them, the fact that the approval rating around the

lame bimbaugh? and some grim news today for mitt romney right before super tuesday primaries. but we start tonight with justice. a symbol of what we are marching against in this country. a shocking racist e-mail from a federal judge who, unless we act, will be back on the bench tomorrow making decisions. montana's top judge, a bush appointee, named richard has apologized for e-mailing a joke suggesting that president obama's late mother had sex with a dog. you heard right. with a dog. at the top of the e-mail, he wrote, quote, i want all of my friends to feel what i felt when i read this. i hope it touches your heart like it did mine. he later admitted he sent it out because he was, quote, anti-obama. after getting caught, cebull asked an appeals court to review the incident for possible misconduct. he then wrote a letter to president obama directly saying, quote, honestly, i don't know what else i can do. i know what else you can do, judge. you can resign. a man with these opinions has no right to sit in judgment of others. but cebull is due back on the bench tomorrow. many of us ha

about. i think anne romney said what women care about is jobs. yet we're being forced to look at our uteri. it seems very odd. >> tracy, is this unhealthy to try and demonize and denigrate educated women that may be pursuing their own life careers? i mean, are we setting a climate here that is really unhealthy for young women in this country to grow in -- up in and to find their own self definition in life? >> well, i think it's unhealthy for anyone, not just young women. like i feel like education is a real american value. so it's pretty un-american to say that half the population shouldn't bother getting educated. and it would be just as damaging if we said that about men. and particularly if we're thinking about americans like being able to compete in a global economy. like jobs are really hard and don't usually pay well. the easiest way to get out of a low-wage job is to get more education and training whether that's vocational or going to college. so i think anyone calling for less education, that's a huge problem. >> congresswoman karen bass, alexandra petri and tracie mcmillan

these people? >> in essence, yes. you just heard mitt romney say, we don't want to play that game. you know, people forget, and i reported it in my book, "showdown," the first bill that the house republicans passed, one of the first, i think it was the first, when they came into power over a year ago was to repeal the health care law. in the house. and it passed. the tea party republicans under john boehner passed a repeal of the health care law, and they had nothing. remember, they used to say repeal and replace? they had nothing to replace it with. they are on record already as saying we don't want any of this, and then when you hear the arguments, as you just played them, of the supreme court, 16 million people will be covered by the expansion of medicaid, which is not connected to the individual mandate. so there you have people like scalia and clemont arguing against this who are saying it will just be a shell. it won't be a shell for those 16 million people. again and again and again, the republicans have had their answers, as the congressman said, to tell us what replacement would ne
